While reading today’s dawn came across a letter generated by a student just like us against the validity of NTS THE National Testing Service and raised some valid points to be considered by government education body HEC.

Fellow mentioned some nice points about the NTS exams credibility more than that of the final graduation ones a university conducts before awarding the degree. A student has to appear two times for further studies one for the graduation finals and secondly at NTS.

GAT (a local GRE for the country) is conducted by NTS and nearly 40,000 to 50,000 candidates appear in these examinations. Fees for the test taken ranges from Rs500 to Rs700, besides bank and dispatch charges.

The NTS should be authorised to hold the final examination instead of the relevant university or college.

Is it not a strange step that a student first appears in examinations at the graduate level and after successful completion of the graduate study, he again has to appear in the NTS examination?

This shows that the HEC does not trust examinations at university or college level. If this is true, the HEC should abandon these examinations.
