Its Not Too Late, Doodle for Muslims!

Guest Post By Bites85

Google Doodle for Beijing Olympics 2008Recently i posted an article ‘Google is Biased’ on Propakistani . The article was about the issue that  Google have never made any Doodle for the Muslim Community and the Pakistanis.Astonishingly, the article got huge response from the Big Bloggers of Pakistan and the general internet users.

After that i also contacted Google Pakistan and asked them to consider the Doodle.I approached many Bloggers to join me and make this issue an international revolution. They wrote follow up article.Following are the bloggers who have joined, so far:

Teeth Maestro:, Buzzvines, Really Virtual, Pakistani Guppu, Xubair

So now its an honor for me to write an follow up article on PakSpeaks.

The main theme is just that Google is the best and most profitable online  company. Google’s policy is ‘Do no Evil’. Google has catered the whole world wide web in less than a decade. Now a days every single internet user is using one or another Google service like Gmail, Adsense, Analytics, Adwords, Earth etc. Google believes in localizing and merging with its customers. Google Pakistan is the portal dedicated to Pakistanis and it is also available in Urdu Language  where as Yahoo, Msn etc don’t provide them.

olympics08_basketballGoogle doodles are special logo’s which Google makes for many occasions and festivals like St. Patrick’s day, Halloween, Christmas, Mother’s day etc. But Google never made a doodle for the Muslim Community of the world. Total world population today stands at around 6.6 billion people out of which 1.9 billion are Christians and 1.5 billion are Muslims (source: Wikipedia). For such a large population how Google neglected the doodle? Also Google makes logos to celebrate the independence days of Israel and India. But never celebrated any Pakistani occasion.I think that Google is totally bias.

Some commenter’s asked a few questions on the above mentioned follow up articles.I would like to answer them:

1) When we say that we want a doodle,we mean that Google show it on Google.com on the official first day of Eid (in which country is celebrated first) and continue showing till the first day of Eid is celebrated in all countries.

2) It does not matter that Pakistan is behind in Tech race, so can have a doodle. Google is only concerned about its customers and their likes. Pakistanis want a doodle. So, there is no harm to make one for us. As we are also progressing in Tech race. Well we have already progressed more than those countries who enjoy doodles as we are the Nuclear Power.florencenightingale birthday 08

3) Even Google understands that we want a simple Eid doodle. We are not asking for any picture of a Prophet (God forbid) or something controversial. There are many ideas which can be implemented like two Muslims hugging, mosque, goat or sheep, crescent etc.

4) Muslim countries also have offices of Google. Go to Google Corporate

5) Pakistan’s current situation must not be a hurdle for Google to make a doodle.War on terrorism was started by the US and currently every country is facing terrorism in any way.If that is the reason than i think Google should have been closed when 9/11 happened.Google Doodle'08

So, thats it.All questions answered.I hope all of you will be satisfied. Now please, i urge all the Muslims to unite for this revolution.Spread the word.Lets wait for the Eid-ul-Adha and see if we get any doodle or not. This revolution will not stop until we get what we deserve.

Does anybody has contacts in the media? Get this matter positively in the print? We should make a case logically why Google should consider it and how it would help it gain more respect in the Muslim world.

Can anybody help highlight this and the Kashmir Mapmaker issue [ http://www.buzzvines.com/Google-Earth-Maps-Azad-Jammu-Kashmir-Google-MapMaker-Kashmir-India-Kashmir-Map-Google-Street-Maps-Road-Map ] to conventional media?

And, once again, please be positive in creating a voice in whatever medium you can!
